why i adore super sculpey

I adore Super Sculpey - more than regular Sculpey, and certainly more than Sculpey III (though I will admit the colors are neat and its hard not to pick up several of those attractive little packages whenever I see them).  I found Sculpey III [ S3 ] a bit irritating to work with - though it was pliable, I couldn't get used to it and had trouble conditioning it properly.  It has a more rubbery texture than Super Sculpey [ SS ].

SS, on the other hand, is extremley malleable.
It fires at the same time and temperature as S3.
You can paint, sand, and varnish it just like S3.

It is waxy - not to the point of peeling, but just enough that it will go where you want it and stay there.

The thing that I keep in mind as I am sculpting is that its like molding flesh.  While a bit creepy, the statement is true - it behaves like flesh.  Its as though you could melt a person's skin just enough to squish around with your thumbs, shaping it into something completely different.  It is the texture of SS that is the selling point for me, and though S3 has those fun little colored clays, I enjoy painting my sculptures just as much as I enjoy making them in the first place.  :D  For me, its just a part of the process.
